Ko Phi Phi - Hostel, bungalow and the town!

Ok so it's time for a guided tour around the island!

First of all let's start at my hostel. I stayed at Blanco Beach Bar which is directly on Loh Dalum beach which is also where all the main nightlife is. Beach parties are a lot of fun! The hostel costs around £8 per night and you are sharing with 4-9 other people. It did get hot in the rooms as there was only a fan and no air conditioning. A small price to pay for the location. It had such a chilled atmosphere with hammocks and beanbags everywhere where you could just relax and take in the amazing views. Even though someone decided to steal my already broken phone on my last night there, I would recommend staying as long as you are up for partying. The music doesn't stop until around 4am so sleep will be impossible until then!

Love this place!!

Next up is Chao Bungalow. This is around five minutes walk from Tonsai Bay/pier and is in the more luxurious part of the island. A lot of resorts here for families and couples. I had a chat with an American guy who has his own rock climbing shop and he recommended some cheap bungalows in the area that I should check out. Initially they were asking for around £17 a night but I haggled them down to £12. Haggling is a way of life over here! You have your own private bungalow with double bed, shower/toilet and fan. You even have your own seating area outside with deck chairs, heaven! Very quiet area which is what I needed after a few days of partying. Also it is two minutes walk to a beach and around 3 minutes to another!

Hard day blogging

So that's where I've stayed so far. The island itself is small and there are no roads which means no cars! So nice. Everyone rides on bikes around the narrow streets and there are so many cool little shops/restaurants. Lots of bamboo tattoo parlours which are unique to Thailand. Amazing to watch them complete really detailed tattoos with just a bamboo stick! The island caters largely to westerners so you will find lots of pizza, burgers etc. However, there is plenty of real Thai food around. From experience if the restaurant looks very run down and grimey, the food will be amazing! This means it is  a true local who cooks amazing thai food without a worry for western tastes.
